The average percentages of capturing shiny Pokemon are quite slim. Through generations 2 and 5, the chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon in the wild were 1 in 8,192 or 0.01%. In generation 6 games, the chances have been increased, but its not known to what percentage yet.
